Anniesland College

Anniesland College is a community college located in the West end of Glasgow. We cater for over 9000 learners from 101 different nationalities studying a range of disciplines within our 7 teaching Departments. Our courses are largely informed by the close links we have established in partnership with a range of industrial/commercial partners and local, national and transnational organisations. Our VLE, built on a MOODLE platform, facilitates much of this activity: we currently have over 200 courses running on this learning environment.
Whilst we have a good infrastructure to support learning and teaching using a range of technologies, problems associated with its usage persist.
We have silos of excellent practice but at present this good work is not disseminated particularly effectively. Our aims for this project, therefore, are:

  • to increase the use of media and technologies to support delivery of learning and teaching within the college
  • to cascade best practice in the use of technology from Departments    across the college to all teaching staff
  • to allow individuals the freedom to determine their own needs for  personal development in using ICT effectively to enhance their learners' educational experiences
  • most importantly, to support the use of ICT in learning and teaching   within initial our current provision of teacher training courses
  • Danny McDougall and Jim Anderson are charged with the responsibility for progressing these aims.
